Recovering from calf strained marathon

Today is Wednesday June 12th, 2013.  I've not run since the rock n roll marathon from ten days ago.  I ran it with a partially torn right calf muscle.  Still sore. Will try tomorrow.

On the Wednesday prior to the race I was doing a 7 mile run with 3 at MP of 7:00 on the treadmill, when I felt some pain in my calf that moved around a bit then hurt so much  - like a knife almost - that I had to stop running.  I stretched a bit and tried again and it was worse. Did not run or do anything at all from Wednesday afternoon ( 29 May 2013) until Sunday 2 June 2013 - race day.

I got a ride with Bernie after her bad news about her ex husband.  She was still in shock.  Her german friend - Kat - took us down at 4:30 am and I met up with the team from SDTC. I was going to pass on the race, but with the article in the paper, and wanting to re-qualify for Boston, I did it anyway.

the first mile felt bad, and I was literally looking down at my number about to take it off...but then the second mile was a bit easier.  so I kept running, thinking that I'd finally stop at mile 5 down by Petco park, but by the time I got down the hill (run at 6:47/mile) I was feeling ok, so I kept running.  Went into a 7:30 sort of groove through about the halfway point  (coming in around 1:37 for the half). 

Things seemed to slow down after that.  I never felt like I needed food or anything, and I was drinking at most of the aid stations.  I think the carbo loading helped (mostly rice, fruit, pasta - 600 g/day for three days).
